Aesthetica Creative Works Competition 2010
Deadline August 31

The popular annual Aesthetica Creative Works Competition is now open for entries! The competition is internationally recognised for identifying new artists and writers and bringing them to global attention.

Previous finalists have achieved success and recognition with accolades including: writing commissions from Channel 4, selection to represent Australia in the Florence Biennale, exhibitions at DACS (London), John Martin Gallery (London), Flores Fine Art Gallery (New York), inclusion in the International Drawing Competition exhibition (Poland) and the National Geographic International Photographic exhibition.

Competition in three categories, Artwork, Poetry and Fiction.

Winners and finalists are published in the Aesthetica Creative Works Annual.

Winners of each category receive £500 prize money.

Entry to the Creative Works Competition is £10.

The entry fee allows the submission of 2 images, 2 poems or 2 short stories.

Poems must be no more than 40 lines each.

Call for Entries--Revealing Culture
VSA Arts, Washington, DC

REVEALING CULTURE VSA arts is seeking artwork by artists with disabilities for display at the Smithsonian Institution's International Gallery in the S. Dillon Ripley Center in Washington, D.C., from June through September 2010. Artists are asked to consider the theme "Revealing Culture" as it relates to their work. Accepted mediums include two- and three-dimensional art, craft, digital art, installation, and time-based media. Visit http://www.vsarts.org/revealingculture for additional information.

Qualifications

Open to artists (ages 18 and over) who have a physical, cognitive, or mental disability. Work entered must be completed after the onset of disability.

All materials should be submitted in digital format through CaFE at http://www.callforentry.org. Interested artists will be required to create a CaFE profile to apply.


CALL for ARTISTS

TradeArt Incorporated's Art Acquisition Project emerged from nationwide initiatives to integrate the works of painters, sculptors, and other visual artists in public art and architecture. The project creates opportunities for artists through collaborations with public and private organizations having a practice of collecting and exhibiting art in public spaces.

The 2009 Art Acquisition Project is a challenge grant proposed by the Village of Creole Cultures Corp. in Lauderhill, Florida. In exchange for collecting 50 significant art works for the permanent collection of the American Museum for Creole Cultures, the VCCC will allow artist members of TradeArt to occupy arts space in the All Americas Cultural Mall Lauderhill. http://www.lauderhillcra.com.

This project is destined to recompense practicing, accomplished artists representing diverse cultures. Up to 50 individual artists will be rewarded.

Imperial School of Painting
Residency
Imperial School of Painting , Rocky Mount North Carolina

This two-year, atelier-style course of study with noted North Carolina painter Charles Philip Brooks concentrates on preparing students for professional careers as artists. Emphasis is placed on traditional methods of oil painting, including making copies and plein-air landscape painting. Studio space for students is included in cost. $400 month. Qualifications
Open to all serious art students. No portfolio review is required at this time.


Elizabeth and Mallory Factor Prize for Southern Art
Gibbes Museum of Art

Established in 2007, the Elizabeth and Mallory Factor Prize for Southern Art honors an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of the South. The Prize is accompanied by a cash prize of $10,000 and is administered and presented by the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, South Carolina.

Qualifications
This award is given to a living artist who is either working in the South or has contributed to the development of art of the South.

How to Apply
Artists can either self nominate through the Web site (http://www.factorprize.org), or gallerists, curators, directors and interested laypeople can nominate their favorites through the Web site.


Grants in Support of Working Artists
The George Sugarman Foundation

The George Sugarman Foundation makes grants available for artists in need of financial assistance. Award amounts are open, but the artist must provide a budget for the amount requested.

Fulbright Grant

The Everglades National Park artist-in-residency program offers visual artists and writers the opportunity to live and work in the unique environment of the Everglades. Application deadlines are ongoing and will be reviewed several times during the year.

Miami-Dade Art in Public Places invites professional artists working in all media to open a file in the Art in Public Places Artists Registry. The Artists Registry serves as a resource to the community and to Art in Public Places in the selection process for new public art commissions. Once an artist is in the registry, he or she will be advised of all upcoming public art opportunities.

2010 TPN Summer Art Colony - July 4th - July 25th:

Taller Portobelo Norte has announced its' Call for Proposals for the 2010 Summer Art Colony in Portobelo, Panama! We invite artists of all disciplines and media to submit project proposals for work to be developed during the 14 or 21 day residency to support artists in realizing works-in-progress and the production of new, small works.
